Equpitment What to wear on a trip of 5 days without support in the desert?
I go five days hiking in the Appalachian Mountains and the need to bring equipment with me. I need help finding what to bring.
Personal items: socks underwear spare parts, a shirt Spare, lightweight nylon shorts (and what you wear). Use Lightweiht solid nylon pants. If it will be cold, wear a pair of socks underneath pantyhose (incredibly 70 Deneir warm and cheap supermarket one as good as any other, and weighs almost nothing. If you are a man, I'm not ashamed to wear tights – Many cyclists carry under your skin.) Boots / walking shoes strong warming. If it will be cold, something warm underneath, like a maid of all work in woolen sweater or ski. Fedora LIGHTWEIGH sun or light jacket cover, but if it rains, be prepared to feel wet – nothing is completely waterproof, and if the hypothesis where would you be sweating worse. A small piece of soap, toothpaste / toothbrush. Small personal first aid kit – especially the clamps chips for traction, and aspirin. Shop light year sleeping bag (if you have a tent) mats, plastic sheets for carpet Ground Backpack Swiss Army knife or several small tool Spoon (or you can take one of those knife fork spoon set, but not necessarily) Little container with cotton, solid wire for broken emergency repairs equipment in waterproof containers in the kitchen, dishes, pot for boiling water Cooked foods / the plastic cup. That's all you need. With a water content – at least 1 liter per quarter for water purification tablets (if you can not achieve, and five drops of iodine tincture of works, but a slightly bitter taste). Leave the tablets in water for half an hour. Lunch: light freeze dried food, freeze dried peas are good, also pasta or rice. You can take the paste dry tomato pulp and mix with a little grated Parmesan cheese. Something to drink coffee (instant hot tea. Drinking chocolate), drink a glass of cold (warm dust) Chocolate – a couple of Hershey bars one day is not too (good source of energy). Something for breakfast, Instant Oatmeal is good, or muesli. Crunchy Nuts Some snacks – dry biscuits. Margarine, sugar. Milk powder not worry too much about a balanced diet – what you need is Higth carbohydrates and fats for energy. Eat more often at night, with something quick for breakfast lunch and refreshments during breaks. It's amazing what you eat in the wild do not touch at home. A little news blockade plastic bags (available in supermarkets). Well keep a little dry (camera placed inside two of them), or to keep wet or part polluted things. Map, compass, GPS if you have a cell phone, if the assumption is small notepad and pen, small flashlight small camera (LED the best) See this should weigh about 35 kilos. If less than that, have spare shirt. Your food should be about 2 pounds per day. Most things can be buy at the supermarket, except freeze-dried food specialist Outdoor Shop. But a little imagination is filled with pasta – also absorbs water, which fills you up, so will not be hungry. In the deserts, which is after dietary energy supply, but also helps fill most. Wash the pieces underwear / socks and let dry overnight. Enjoy all, but no more, and you'll be a pro. Have fun! Do not forget the camera. Edit: A good tip ergot here. Forgotten cooking fuel, you'll need if you are in the upper area of the restriction zone of fire. And the practice at home first. Oh. and insect repellent and sunscreen is a good idea. You can get small tubes that combine both.
