What is the law in regards to carrying Swiss Army Knives?

Of course with all these knife crimes, there is a clampdown on people carrying them, with promises of severe punishments for anyone caught possessing a knife.

But where I live is quite rural with a lot of campsites and hikers etc. As a result many people carry Swiss Army knifes. This makes perfect sense as they are can openers, mud scrapers, saws, tweezers bottle openers etc. etc. Plus people genuinely use the knifes for camping purposes.

But what I want to know is, if you are walking down the street with a swiss army knife in your pocket…..are you guilty in the eyes of the law of carrying a dangerous weapon?

Anyone know for sure.

Yes they are perfectly legal, provided you have a good reason for carrying it. So, as others have correctly stated, if you were going fishing or hiking it could be OK, otherwise you would almost certainly be prosecuted.

I said COULD be OK because in today’s totally hysterical police state even if you were actually fishing it would not be surprising if some officious officer declared that he could see no reason why you should have it even if you are fishing and arrested you. And I would be even less surprised when the CPS rushed into court with it.

Think I’m exaggerating? Just check out the link.
