What month is the best to start hiking the Appalachian Trail?
This would be a thru-hike ofcourse.
Georgia to Maine
The AT from Georgia to Maine is a rugged trip that will take more than just a few days. You didn’t mention what time frame. You need to consider it’s Fall now and cold weather is right around the corner. Since I’ve hiked over 80% of the AT in the last 10 years I would recommend you do it in Spring….You might miss the Fall leaves and the colors but the scenery is still breath taking and you will find it easier to keep track of where you are. The trail is incredibly well marked and goes thru many small towns and rest areas that are situated on or near the trail itself. If you haven’t done the AT before I strongly suggest you pack provisions for about 5 days and plenty of water to keep hydrated.Good Luck…..
